Recent Diagnosis - scared!

Postby Josephine_josephine » Sat Jan 02, 2016 11:54 pm

Hi Ladies,

I'm Jo and I have recently been diagnosed with PCOS. I went to the doctors with bleeding irregularity and now here I am, in absolute panic mode!

So many questions and with only 10 minute slots at the GP's so many unanswered questions!

i have always wanted children and after having a misscarrage early last year and not one sight of pregnancy since, I'm left feeling so low and hopeless in achieving my family of 4 children that I've dreamt of for years...

Looking for someone who can share anything...anything with me id really appreciate it.

Hi Jo,

Firstly - don't be scared. It's easier said than done, I know, but you've got through the biggest hurdle any PCOS sufferer has and that's getting the official diagnosis.

PCOS can be scary, especially when first diagnosied but it's not the end of your life or your dreams for a family. Many PCOS sufferers, like myself, go on to have children, sometimes without any help.

With regards to conceiving my doctor told me that after 12 months of trying unsuccessfully I would be put forward for IVF - so this could well be an option for you. I was officially diagnosed after I had my daughter and after 2.5 years of trying without help (I, like you, also miscarried my first pregnancy after 2 yrs of trying). Had I been diagnosed previous to getting pregnant I would have definitely have taken the IVF route after 12 months. So ask your doctor about their procedures regarding this.

The most important thing to remember is don't stress. It won't help you mentally and doesn't help when trying to conceive either.

Being honest the majority of people I know, myself included, fell pregnant after a drunken night out :-)

It's not the end of your dreams, it's just the start of you taking control of them!!! xxx

Thankyou so much for your reply, it really means a lot!

Knowing and hearing from someone else that understands has made me feel like I'm not alone in this. Of course I have my partners full support but from woman to woman it's different and I really appreciate it.

I have an appointment with a specialist on Monday so hopefully I will get some answers and some kind of path to follow to be able to take control of this!

Onwards and upwards! I will achieve my family of four!
