Insulin resistance and Metformin

Postby Rachel_Read95 » Sun Jun 29, 2014 9:49 pm

I was told by my gynaecologist that I am showing signs of insulin resistance and so she has put me on Metformin to try and help. However, it makes me very unwell and it's difficult to try and get on with life because I constantly feel sick and being sick is a phobia of mine. I just want to know if anyone has any advice on what they do to help themselves feel better or just anything really! It would help a lot!

Hi! Can I ask how you take your metformin and what your dosage is? It will generally make you sick if you're still eating food high in carbs and sugar. I take 850mg 5min before breakfast and 850mg 5min before dinner. I've been on it for a month and a half and only felt bad once when I had something fried. Also shouldn't really drink alcohol, that will make you feel quite ill and it's very dangerous. A glass of wine here and there is ok. Hope this all helps, keep it up, it works!
