Lou - I had a cervical stitch and was 2/5 engaged when they took it out. Then went straight to 3/5 so thought it wouldn't be long but I was induced at 38+2 (due to my blood clotting problem) and she took 4 days to come so obviously wasn't that ready!!! They come when they come like Joanne said so just take it day by day.

Aww Lou, great news you are engaged hun but I think you have to take everything with a pinch of salt like the others say. Exciting though, you don't have long at all now!

My little man has been "head down" for a while now which is good. We did birth and labour at NCT on Tuesday night but I still feel up in the air with it all because of my scan (which is 2 weeks today). I'm hoping I get a clear answer as to whether it'll be C section or not (due to my fibroid). I was looking at the pic in my pregnancy notes again the other day and it's clear as day that the fibroid is blocking the cervix. I don't know how I feel about it either way to be honest so rather than worry about the idea of both I'm trying to take it in my stride and look at it that what will be, will be. There's nothing I can do about it so whichever option we face then we do.

Having trouble sleeping at the moment as my hips hurt during the night and I struggle to get comfortable, even with a pillow. I was tossing and turning again last night and when you have to pee 4 times in the night it's really annoying! xx

With you on the Hips SGC, not so bad at night unless I need to turn but really feeling it in the day, very painful moving after sitting down, plan to bring my swiss ball in and see if that helps rather than a std office chair.

Stillamummy, is it your induction tomorrow?
If so good luck, look forward to hearing from you once bubs is here!

Saw midwife for 34wk check today, pretty sure bubs is head down now and has put 3/5th engaged but that could all change as she's constantly on the move.
But where as I measured ahead before I'm now only 31cm so 3 wks behind, so off for a scan on Sunday, was surprised they do them on the weekend as it's not exactly an emergancy.
I am expecting all to be ok, the midwife did say that it could be that as I'm tall and have quite a long body theres more room for baby to strecth out over rather than create a bump out the front.

Odd as I actually feel big!

hey ladies, very exciting for you all. Getting closer.

Lou I was never engaged with my daughter and had her at 36 weeks +2 so you just never know. Just get your bag ready just in case ;-) xxx

youlemming, I would take those measurements a bit with pinch of salt. At one point during my pregnancy with Joshua I was measuring 8 weeks ahead...mmm then the next week I was 2 weeks ahead...not sure how I could change that much in a week.

Good luck everyone xx

I had my 31 week midwife on Thursday, and this little sausage is still transverse! Been the same since 22 weeks.

Midwife has said that if baby hasn't turned by 36 weeks they'll scan me again, and then see what happens from there. If baby refuses to budge I'll be admitted until they do an elective section. The risk of cord prolapse is quite high with transverse babies, so I could have to spend 2 weeks in hospital as a precaution.

Keep everything crossed for me!

I can't tell baby off for it - I did the same to my mum! I was a stubborn transverse one too, which my mum had to be hospitalised at 35 weeks for and sectioned. Oops.

How's everyone doing in this heat? 38 weeks tomorrow and have had enough now! I've got that pressure feeling constantly & the little monkey keeps making me think this is it with odd contractions and then it all goes quiet again! I really hope I don't end up going overdue but I bet I do!

Hi Lou!

I'm doing OK thanks, 34 weeks this week and got my scan on Thursday to see what this fibroid is up to. So essentially should know whether we are natural birth or C section on Thursday. We shall see.

The heat isn't bothering me too much but yes I get the pressure all the time. I way overdid it last week at work - it was really busy and had loads going on. Got 2 more weeks now. Can't wait to finish! Have you already finished for yours? Can't believe you are 38 weeks now!!! How exciting. We have come such a long way haven't we?

Have you got everything sorted now purchase-wise?

Hope everyone else is doing OK xx

Hi

Hope things move along quicly for you Lou I can remember these last few wks when all you want is for baby to be here!

Ok heat wise at the moment but I am not looking forward to the coming week, it will be fine while in the office but it's the going outside at the end of the day I'm dreading, AC in my car doesn't work and the drive home can be 45-60 min :(

SGC - fingers crossed for good news on Thursday, are you hoping for a natural birth or happy either way?

I have a scan next week to check on growth, if she's stayed on or gone above the 10th percentile then will continue to monitor, but if she's dropped any lower then they will induce as will be 37 wks by then.
Really hoping I aviod an induction as they can end up with more intervention if the body isn't ready yet and the last thing I need is a c-section just as the 6 wks summer holidays start, will not be fun with an active 5 yr old to entertain and not being able to drive.
We live on a very steep hill as well so even walking anywhere will be out of the question while healing.

Baby is still very active so she must be getting what she needs or she wouldn;t have the energy to beat me up on ad off all day, just going to be on the smaller end of the scale.

One thing I forgot to ask the consultant last week was if I still go to the normal mid-wife appointments, have one already booked in for this Fri not sure if Im now seeing the clinic I carry on with them, anyone else under a consultant and do you go to both?

Hi youlemming sorry to crash. I was under a consultant for my diabetes and definitely carried on going to midwives as I found the consultant was more concerned with the medical side of my diabetes and I didn't get the usual heartbeat checks etc. so I would go to the midwives locally in between time...which was so much nicer as we just talked about baby and pregnancy. xxx

Thanks, I will keep seeng the midwife as yes the consultant was very clinical with it all, I'd like to be able to chat about birth options and things depending on the decision next week.
Assuming I will have to go to labour ward instead of midwife led unit now, especially if they do induce and want to see what if any limitations that brings, like would I still be able to have a water birth.

I'm still not sure about the whole implications and level of concern about the measurements, the midwife at the assessment unit seemed very flustered about it but she was very busy and on her own so it could have been more that than my growth chart and on the other hand the consultant was very brief and calm not showing much at all taking no more than 10 min total and just saying I need a scan for 2 wks time and then they will decided whether they induce at 37/38 wks or monitor wkly.
Hoping the midwife can bring a bit of sense to it all.
