Recommending a book for you...

I was diagnosed with PCOS last June and at the same time found out my Father was ill. I felt that this was not the right time for me to tackle my diagnosis with everything else that was happening.

This year I have been feeling more inclined to 'sort myself out' (no help last year from docs or specialists). Initially I took myself to my local GUM clinic and asked for them to put me back on the mini-pill after a 3yr break, to see whether or not I could lose weight and regulate my moods. But something was holding me back.

Coincidentally I came across an article in Marie Claire 'The A-Z of hormones' which name checked a good book: "The Period Repair Manual" by Lara Briden. Before I purchased it I googled her blog which gave me a taster. I'm half way through the book now and have to say it is blowing my a good way....I feel empowered and understand my diagnosis a bit more.

I am determined to figure some of this out for myself and eventually combat my PMS and other side effects. If I can get some of that in check and listen to my body I might be able to address the weight loss element too. I have decided NOT to return to the pill. For 20 yrs I masked what my hormones were trying to tell me. After all this time I want to understand and read the signals instead.
