Newbie Aboard!

Postby AussieGirlinUK » Sat Sep 20, 2014 10:07 pm

Hi there! I'm new - both to the Verity message boards and PCOS. Although I was diagnosed a year ago, I'm only just accepting it as I thought I had been misdiagnosed. Normally an upbeat, push-through-it person, I am really struggling so I feel lucky to find a place where I can learn more about PCOS and living with it and speak to people who really understand. I hope I might be able to help encourage people too.

I've been on a host of different medicines which I have not reacted well too and due to trouble diagnosing me and issues with the NHS, have had three Endocrinologists. I have booked a private appointment for Monday night with a new consultant and am looking into natural assistance to complement any treatment.

Am keen to read everyone's stories as well as anything (and everything) about PCOS. Welcome to other new members too and hi to everyone else.

It actually went really, really well Hols969. Thanks for asking.

I finally felt someone listened to how I am feeling, re-confirmed the diagnosis and explained why he was ruling out all he other conflicting diagnosises. He not only made PCOS un-scary explaining fact from rumour and internet advice which isn't always sound if not from a reputable source like this and has put in place a proper long term treatment plan that has a view to me feeling well, healthy, happy, pain-free etc. I didn't realise just how stressful it has been seeing different consultants, all with differing views, rushing through appointments that when I came out, I felt elated but also exhausted. The long-term plan will take a year but what is a year to feel like a normal 39 year old at the end?

I finally feel I am getting the resources in place to deal with this and change my life from the nightmare it has become with finding Verity, the information resources available here and this focused plan. Watch out world!!! :)
