HI Blossom - glad to hear your scan went well, getting past the first 8 weeks is a big hurdle. Chances of miscarriage go down after this point apparently as most late 1st trimester miscarriages are missed miscarriages. So now try and relax as there is little more you can do except look after yourself!

Dudders - that must have been awful having a pregnancy folder around after miscarriage, luckily I was never sent mine as a started miscarrying just after I had my booking appointment in week 11. And the midwife dismissed the first signs which appeared during my appointment. Hope I don't get her again though I might do next week.

Jaffa1 - you could try and get your midwife to get you an early scan. I know what you mean about not listening. That was my entire experience when I attended the fertility clinic a few years ago. They didn't believe in luteal phase defects and kept saying I hadn't ovulated when I had. They then overdosed me on clomid that made me really sick and shortened my luteal phase even more. So glad I eventually went down the accupunture and natural route, even if it did mean waiting a bit longer.

As for me I am just really tired at the moment and thinking of going to bed soon. Just trying to pull through at work at the moment and hoping I am not making too many mistakes. Can't believe it will be 10 weeks tomorrow!

Hey amber, 10 weeks! So exciting! I hope your tiredness goes away soon. I'm feeling grotty as I have a cold but other than that not too tired considering how stressful work is at the moment. I will see when the midwife contacts me if they can do an early scan. I have no idea how to contact them until I get a letter or a phone call so i'll just wait. If I get to 7 weeks I'm happy to get a private one anyway.
Dudders hope the days are passing peacefully and you are not too stressed.
Blossom so glad it went well that's a great milestone to reach! Do you think Dr Shehata will still see me if I'm lucky enough to still be preg or is there no point? My app is booked for 2nd July so will be 8 weeks.
Anilav hope you are ok.

Blossom, great news on the scan! What's your next milestone now?

Amber, I have to say I envy you at 10 weeks - if we ever get that far it will be a massive step for us. I'd really quite like to go to sleep and skip to the point where baby is kicking just so I know it's there! So when will you be seeing the midwife next week? And have they at least booked your nuchal scan?

In my area Jaffa, you register your pregnancy with the GP and they give a referral to the midwife who then calls you to arrange your booking in appointment. They'll give you all the contacts then. If you have any worries in the meantime just google your community midwives office - usually located in one of the big hospitals.

Hope you're ok Anilav.

AFM, well halfway to my next scan and clinging on to my sanity ... Just! Another maternity notes folder for the collection today. I didn't really want to take it and although the GP was sympathetic it was obviously far too complicated to just let me collect it later on! I got what felt a bit like a sales pitch encouraging me to go to the John Radcliffe at Oxford, and I have to admit although it's a bit of a pain, the facilities should be far superior. Doctor was actually very understanding and helpful though so it wasn't too bad. I'd still rather not think about that side of things yet though!

Hope everyone is coping ok xx

HI Dudders - I can tell you getting to 10 weeks is a massive step for me as was getting a scan showing a real baby that was alive. Sometimes I have trouble actually believing it is true. However I refuse to get stressed about it as it has done me no good in the past. I keep telling myself that if something does go wrong I have plenty of other good things and goals I can work towards. I have an appointment with the widwife next Wednesday so we will see what she says. I am sure I will get a scan as it will be a my local smaller hospital. I know what you mean about going to sleep - I keep going to bed early! I haven't been given any maternity notes yet except for a piece of paper with approximate appointment dates and a FW8 form which they forgot to sign. Hope you next scan comes round soon.

HI Jaffa - I don't mind being asleep as I don't feel sick then! Hope you manage to get rid of your cold soon, maybe sleep it off!

I'm off to bed xx

Amber..yes am clinging onto the stats that the mc rate has now dramatically dropped but its hard changing that thought process when you been used to it going wrong. Its a massive milestone to reach. Must admit I was truly shocked there was a heartbeat had totally managed to convince myself it would be over. Felt to relieved but then you start thinking about the next milestone. Great news you are over 10 weeks now. whats your next milestone? LetY us know how you get on with midwife and if they let you have your 12week scan. With regards to your message the other day about clothes I havent brought anything yet but leggings are my new best friend now, cant wear my jeans they feel uncomfortable.

Dudders..glad your appointment went ok, just put the folder in a drawer or cupboard though as you dont need the extra stress of keep seeing it around. So did you get a scan today? I thought you were so when is your next scan?

Jaffa hope your ok hun and trying to keep sane. Do you have much in way of symptons? I think dr shehata will still see you but there will be certain blood tests which wont give a true non pg reading so not sure if that will make a difference. If I were you I would leave it booked in and if all is going well as I am sure and crossing everything it does and as the appt gets bit closer say 1 -2 weeks before phone his secretary and ask her what she advises as sure they have dealt with this situation before and will know what best to advise.

anilav..hope things are progressing along ok?

Afm..off my high from positive scan now counting down till the next one. I thought I would be waiting till the 12 week one but my mc dr wants me to have another scan at 10 weeks so that's only next week so pleased about that. Then after that scan if all is well then its not long till the 12 weeker so feel like there are some nice small steps to help with the waiting.
So my next milestone is 10 weeks...hope I can make it. I will be 9 weeks tomorrow. Each week we all get to is so precious.
Hope everyone is doing ok?

Hi
I am feeling different in that I have lost the normal feeling of needing a wee and I just suddenly get very uncomfortable and have to go straight away. I don't know if this is normal but I had it the first time I was preg. I feel pregnant definately. Can't explain specifics. Have been peeing on cheapies for a week now and it suddenly got very dark yesterday so I stopped now. Am going to do a digi on sunday so that will be a week after the last one and I hope it says 2-3! I will do as you say blossom about the appointment that's good advice.

I hope the weekend flies by for you dudders.

Hope everyone else is doing ok xx

Edited to add I have such a headache :-( I have survived a week of a cold with no drugs, but this is hard! I got a neck massage but it's so tight still :-(

Thanks everyone for asking after me. Time is dragging so slowly it's untrue!

My early scan is tomorrow morning, so I'll know if it's viable or not very soon. I'm not in high hopes tbh. It's hard not to symptom spot, and I feel generally a bit rough and very low but I'm not feeling like I did with my son.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine today.

HI Jaffa - I have been feeling rotten too, I had a terrible headache all day Friday that didn't go away until Saturday afternoon and then I felt really sick most of yesterday. You maybe able to take the occaisional paracetemol for headaches but just make sure it hasn't got caffine in. I hope it is okay as I have taken paracetemol occasionally as a I have suffered from quite a few headaches. There was nothing to say on the packet that you mustn't take it during pregnancy. You must not take aspirin or ibrupropen though.

Anilav - Good luck with your scan tomorrow. I know it is scary but at least you know where you stand. Apparently every pregnancy is different so just because you don't feel the same as before doesn't mean that it is bad news.

Hi amber yes you can take paracetamol, even my osteopath said its fine to take a few and he doesn't like pills in general. I feel much better now and I hope you do too x
Anilav good luck tomorrow and dudders too
Blossom hope you are ok.

I got my midwife booking in appointment! It's when I'll only be 6 weeks. I can't make that day anyway. Shall I move it to another day that week or leave it to 8 or 9 weeks do you think? X

Thanks for the confirmation on paracetemol Jaffa, I thought that was the case then read in a magazine (Yes I know that magazines are full of rubbish!) that you shouldn't take them in the first 12 weeks. It was too late by then so felt really guilty. However the GP never said anything about it when I saw her, she only checked for prescribed medication and then went on about foods I must not eat (which were all on my aversion list). I have my booking appointment with the midwife on Wednesday and I will be 11 weeks. I refused to go before having an early scan as they are quite lengthy (45 minutes) and I wanted to make sure I hadn't had a mmc. Headache has now gone just feeling really tired so I think it is time to get some sleep before facing up to another 5 day working week!

Amber - I had to have paracetemol and antibiotics when I was only 6 weeks as I was so poorly - nothing I could do and everything seems to be fine.
Jaffa - they wouldn't let me have an NHS early scan even though my dates are always cagey..but I did pay for an early scan was 7 weeks approx. Saw heartbeat and yolk sac etc.

I think what I'll do is move the midwife a couple of weeks along to 8 weeks, and if/when I get to 6 or 7 weeks I'll book a scan with a local place. It's only £45 and I have seen a heartbeat before at 6 weeks so I'll try that again. Fingers crossed.
