GROUP READING/BERKSHIRE

Postby peachette » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:07 pm

Hi ladies,
Ive been looking for a Reading group and up till now there hasnt been one for a while, so with thanks to 'verity' they have given me the go ahead to start one up!

Since ive been coming on here and reading and chatting ive learnt that the most important part of what ever stage of pcos you are going through (ttc, just diagnosed etc) knowing you are not alone will keep you going!

Ive have found this website so helpful, and i hope by starting up this group for the women of Reading we can all get hints, tips and just support from each other.

I very much look forward to those of you who join, finding out your stories, experiences etc and knowing we are all in the same boat so hopefully we all understand (even the embarassing bits!)

Thank you :D

Ditto! Count me in too!

I went to a couple of events organised by the previous Reading/Berkshire PCOS group before it went quiet and found it to be a very positive experience indeed.

hi ladies, its great to finally get some company on here!

Maybe it would be nice if we could write a bit about our journey so far, introduce ourselves etc

Well ill start, i got diagnosed with pcos when i was 18 (2004) after my af's got further and further apart. Ive now been ttc for over 2 years and so far had 1 round of clomid 50mg which didnt do anything. Ive been given the pill as i havent had an af for over a year (except from 1 go with provera which i had a really bad reaction to)
I as yet havent started the pill for various reasons but im hopeful still that one day ill have a bfp!

Id be interested in coming to a group. I went to one of the old ones but then they stopped.

As for a bit about me, Im nearly 30, have been dxed for quite a few years now after suffering with my skin and weight gain. Not ttc but always looking at what helps my hormones for things like weight, skin, moods etc!

I'm 32, living in Reading. I was diagnosed a few years ago and struggle to lose weight. Not TTCing at the moment but would like to get things in order so we could start in a couple of years. I went to a couple of the old meetings before they stopped. Happy to help in any way I can to get things moving for a Reading group again because I could see there was a lot of benefit in having a local support (especially face-to-face) group.

Hey,
I'm recently new to the site and only recently been diagnosed. I would be interested in joing the group and particularly would find helpful how ladies in Berkshire area are finding accessing treatment and generally how GP's have responded and whether you received specialist help?

Hi girls
Huge apologies for not posting for so long.
Joss thought it would be nice if we could get together for a chat so she's set up an informal meeting on Saturday 23rd March 2013 at 2:30pm at Copa Bar in Reading (76-78 Kings Rd, Reading, West Berkshire RG1 3BJ)
It's to meet for a cuppa and chat about our PCOS and experience of living with it. I imagine we will be quite easy to spot - but Joss says she will bring her toy penguin so you can spot us easily!

We don't want to tread on any toes - it is great if you have plans for a new group. But would be great if we could get together on the 23rd for a chat and pool ideas.
All PCOS ladies in the area welcome to come and join us - it will be very informal but would be lovely to catch up and also to meet new faces.

Hope to see you on the 23rd.

Meeting went well yesterday - 6 of us met for coffee and informal chat about how PCOS affects us and ideas about how to cope with it. It is great to chat to people going through the same sorts of things. Joss suggested meeting again in another 6 weeks or so. I will post the date here as soon as I have it, so as to give you all as much notice as possible.

Just noticed here on Verity's website that Verity's next national PCOS conference is in London on Saturday 9th November 2013.
Seeing as London is pretty darn close for us Berkshire gals, I thought I'd mention it here in case anyone is interested.
Sounds like they'll have lots of interesting speakers on lots of different PCOS topics. Link is:
http://www.verity-pcos.org.uk/events/london_2013
This gives booking info/costs/venue/agenda for the day etc.

I went to one of these Verity conferences a few years ago and it was great - a very informative day. Great speakers, plenty of time for questions, and above all very friendly - which is important because women come from all different parts of the country and a lot of people didn't know anyone at the beginning of the day - but soon started chatting over coffee!
