Hello everyone,
Monday's meeting went very well. Five of us came, and after a general 'get to know you' chat, we had a fascinating talk on nutrition from Michelle Newbold, who works at the Wild Oats health food store in Redland (just off the top of Whiteladies Rd).
Michelle brought a pack of Xylitol to show us, it's a natural alternative to sugar which can be used almost like for like. Then she talked about ways to protect your liver, for example with Milk thistle, or with 'bitter' foods like rocket. She said that generally food that tastes bitter is good for the liver.
She also touched on phytoestrogens (not sure of the spelling).
She also recommended a website,
www.naturalnews.com.
The new venue (Starbucks, Aztec West) worked very well. We'll meet there next time - 7pm, Monday 19 April. I haven't got a speaker lined up yet, but I'll see what I can do.
Please let me know if you're coming, and pass details onto anyone else you know in the area.
How to get there:
The Aztec West roundabout is on the A38, about 6 miles north of Bristol city centre, just before the A38 meets the M5.
Come into Aztec West buisness park.
You'll see a roundabout almost straight away - take the 1st exit.
Then take the 1st turn on the left - very soon after the roundabout.
The road curves round a bit and you'll Starbucks in a stone building on the right, just before the Lodge (hotel).
For those of you who know Aztec West, Starbucks is in the building that used to be the Black Sheep pub and is opposite the Aztec Hotel.
Aztec West is also well served by local buses.
