Hello ladies

Just a reminder of next Saturday's meeting at EV in waterloo at 2pm.

Also we've had a request from a PhD student who is doing some research on PCOS, they would like to come along to the meeting.

I'm not sure as yet what they would like to do but wanted to make sure it was ok with everyone before I said yes as I know for many of us it's a sensitive and private subject.

As and when I find out more info I'll let you know, but please post any objections here.

thanks

Hi,

I was recently diagnosed and joined on here about 5 minutes ago. Such bad timing as it looks like I missed the meeting by a few hours!

Hope there will be another one.

:)

Hello all!

It was a great meeting today and it was great to meet those of you that came along.

We did have a couple of mishaps finding EV today as annoyingly google and apple maps are now showing it as being about 3 or 4 roads over from where it actually is. For future reference Southwark is probably the easiest station to go to and you literally turn left out of the station and then take the first left on the pedestrianised walk way by the bridge and EV is right there.

On to meeting topics:

Firstly a great book that a few of us recommend for getting a good understanding of PCOS and how it affects you is The Ultimate PCOS Handbook http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Ultimate-PCOS-Handbook-self-esteem/dp/0007213255 If you go to the main Verity site and use the click through link to amazon form there Verity will get a percentage of the sale back!
It's a thorough guide of everything PCOS and how it can be managed through diet and exercise and then leading on to fertility. Also it's not something that you have to read cover to cover but you can dip in and out of as and when you need to.

Secondly a hospital that was recommended in London by one of our attendees is UCLH. The have a dedicated women's unit specialising in syndromes such as endometriosis and woman with ovarian cysts http://www.uclh.nhs.uk/OurServices/ServiceA-Z/WH/GYNAE/GDTU/Pages/Home.aspx

Thirdly the annual Verity conference is going to be held in London this year so keep an eye out for more info from Verity. If you become a paid member of the charity you will get an initial support pack and access to videos of talks from past conferences in the members area as well as a discounted ticket price for the next conference. Well worth doing.

Fourth, I have had a PhD student contact me. She is doing research into woman's experiences of PCOS, how it affects them and getting through the NHS with the syndrome. She is looking to interview woman with PCOS. If anyone would like more information about this then please PM me and I can send more info through to you directly.

FINALLY we discussed setting up a closed facebook group as many of us are facebook addicts :D this would be more sociable and allow us to share links and pictures more easily so as soon as this is up and running I will let you all know.

Next meeting should be end of Feb but at the moment is TBC so keep an eye out for a post for this.

phew!

And that's the link to the Facebook group, apologies for my bf being in it, I had to add someone straight away for it to let me start it up. Once people start joining I will remove him!
