Hello

Postby sammyl79 » Fri May 14, 2010 12:59 pm

Hi ladies

Just wanted to introduce myself. My names Sam, I am 30 years old and live in Chatham.

My GP said I had PCOS around 12 years ago but nothing much was done about it. I have been with my partner for 10 years and we were luckily blessed with a beautiful daughter who is now 6. In 2005 I went back to my GP as I had not had a period for a year after my daughters birth and was referred to a specialist who put me on Metformin...

This all went on the backburner due to me starting a new job, training and at the time adding to the family was the last thing on my mind....

Until about 8 months ago, we been actively trying ;-) but periods are pretty absent, only had 2 in the last 8 months. My GP has referred me again yesterday and I hope to see Mr Norman at Medway again soon...

Anyway I look forward to chatting more with you. I don't know anyone with the condition personally and it would be nice to have somewhere to be able to speak with other sufferers...

Thanks
Sam

Hi Sam,

Feel free to also pop over to the Kent Girls TTC thread, on the TTC section of this site - a bunch of us are over there talking all things pcos & ttc :)

Hi,

I am new to this and would appricate updates etc. I found out on the 15th Oct that I have PCOS and I am just trying to work out what that means for me.

So far the website and these discussions are where I am getting all of my information form as my doctor was not particulary helpful - so thank you all for that.

I live near Brands Hatch and Bluewater, but work in the West End of London and jump at the opportunity to ask as many questions as I can.

Thanks

Hello ladies,

I apologise profusely for being AWOL for the last few months - I have issues I needed to deal with and work on, but with any luck I'm back up and feeling stronger.

I've noticed a Kent TTC board that held meetings so great news you've all been keeping in touch without me being around. If I can be of any help let me know but I was thinking maybe meeting in December or January officially?

I am really sorry not being around for you all but I hope to still be of some use!

Let me know what you think...

Thanks Beanicle, I live in Hartley, so not far at all.

Looking forward to your next meet up!

In the meantime I have a question:

I am looking at Reflexology and Acupuncture - have any of you tried either of these? If so, have you found either helpful?

Thanks

I have had both whilst ttc

Reflexology is sooooo relaxing. I had that whilst I was waiting to have a period so I could start clomid. I was so stressed out and found it was really fab. I plan to tell everyone that what I want for Christmas and birthdays in the future a reflexology sessions.

I have also been having acupuncture. What I did notice was that my feet got warm. I normally always have cold feet but since I started they are warm. I don't know if it has any other effect but I am now pregnant and am keeping it up through my pregnancy just in case. Some people say it is really relaxing but I think it depends what kind you have. It doesn't hurt as much as you'd think it would either.

Hi Ladies,

It been a while since I've been in here - but now I'm back at work its easier!!

Nich and Beanicle, I live near both of you - Dartford, and originally New Ash Green. And Nich - I work in Paddington

Beanicle - its a fab idea to keep up with the acupuncture throughout your pregnancy, I had it near the end of mine to help with SPD and it was fantastic. Also gave me the best nights sleep after each session that I'd had pretty much my entire pregnancy!

I would highly recommend reflexology too - I don't think I would have gotten pregnant without it - I truly believe it helped to kick start my periods again.

I'd love to be able to meet up with you ladies, I kind of seem to have lost quite a few friends in the past few years and today has been a bit sad as I had to pack up the desk of a very good friend, who also had PCOS, who has gone to Australia!

Postby kentchickadee » Thu Jan 27, 2011 11:46 pm

hi guys sooo glad ive come across this site, as you may all see im a newbie, i was dignoised with pcos at 13,as put on dianette and been on it ever since till i was 23 until i decided to come off it. after a year i went from no periods to light ones to sometime heavy periods which was great. i had a scan and an internal scan to say my ovaries are sis free my testotrone level was normal and i was even ovulating. bu unfortenly i still have pcos and i will have it forever. i use to have bad acne but thats gone. i have thick course hair every where, under developed breast, and get boils ( which are very painful) i i also have a weight issue i seem to carry it around my belly and face but have nice arms and legs lol. my moods very i can be very happy which is most of the time but when im low its very low :( thought it might be a typical gemini thing.
anyways enough of me bubbling about i was wondering im seeking a second opnion and is there any pcos specialist around kent or close as?
regards

Which hospital

Postby Nich » Fri Feb 25, 2011 12:31 pm

Hi ladies, I am fianlly being referred to a speicalist and been given a choice of hospital:

- Sevenoaks Hospital
- Orsett Hospital
- Orpington Hospital
- Erith & District Hospital
- Darent Valley Hospital

Darent Valley is closet to me, but I wondered if anyone has any recommendations for the best gynaecology department?

Thanks

Hi Nich,

I was under Miss Singh at Darent Valley and she was fab - I went in armed with a page of questions and she answered everything.

She also did all the tests I asked for and put me on the courses of treatment I asked for

Hope this helps

Nikki
