A big hello from me...

Postby Ammeg » Wed Jul 09, 2008 12:21 pm

Hi everyone!

We are official - Bedfordshire is now on the PCOS map!!

I have just been appointed as the Bedfordshire Group Leader. We now have the email address bedfordshire@verity-pcos.org.uk set up and together we have arranged our initial meeting for the end of July - fantastic news!

So then, a small bit about me...

I'm Gemma, I'm 24 and was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome 4 years ago. Currently I don't have any children, and am not ttc, but I am getting married next year, and would like to extend the family from there (I will have 2 step children)! I am far from a specialist on the subject of PCOS, but I know my problems and my story, and I would like to know yours! I am a strong believer that talking can make a world of difference, especially if it is talking to someone who really does understand!!!

By starting this group, my aim is to raise awareness, reduce embarrassment, learn, smile and generally help each other.

I look forward to meeting you soon!

Gemma

:)

Hi Gemma, so do you want us to explain a bit of our history now? I don't mind.. I really don't recall being diagnosed in 2000, but a nurse stumbled across the fact when I recently had a smear! The doc I saw recently confirmed this, and the name of the doc I saw at the hospital rang a bell, but I still can't remember anything about it. Now, I'm married, and though we are in debt - we're with CCCS and paying it off. But we know the clock is ticking and we need to get pregnant asap! So hence I'm here. :D Look forward to the meeting on 31st - can I ask Gemma; what do you think to the idea of having some posters (I can knock some up, I'm no whizz, but I can give it a go) in doctors / library ?

Hi!

Posters are a good idea. I have been thinking about this, as we are going to let the ladies at the Bedford Hospital clinic know about us!

Feel free to put something together and drop me an email with where you would like to place them, and I will see what I can do! I will see if Verity have any posters we can use too.

Gem :)

Ooo - I can ask my doctors if I can put a poster up - I'm sure they'd agree. They also have 2 surgeries (1 on London road, and the other in Abbeyfields)

:D

Thanks for the poster Katie, good work! Have made a few alterations and am just getting the go ahead from Verity and we have lift off!

There are 3 surgeries in Ampthill and 1 in Flitwick. I have those covered. Also The clinic Sam Bailey runs at Bedford Hospital.

If anyone has any locations which would have a poster advertising our meeting, please let me know and I will get some posters sent out to you!

Just wanted to offer my transport services again for the meeting on 31st July, for those battling the public transport system!

As trains are a bit more frequent than the bus services, I can pick you (up to a max of 4 people) up from Flitwick station, at 6pm, and drop you off again after the meeting.

Please PM me if interested :D
