New w/ Consultant Troubles

Postby spartanp011 » Sun Oct 18, 2015 10:54 am

Hi there,

I'm new to Verity. Not sure what I'm looking for but hopefully I'll find it here.

I'm currently waiting to see my consultant about a PCOS diagnosis, however I have seen my ultrasound scan and can quite clearly see all the cysts inside. I'm 25 and have had irregular cycles all my life. I have always been told that things will settle down, and I guess I'm super frustrated that it's taken this long for GP's to take me seriously.

I'm battling weight gain, but have not always been large and I'm wondering how to broach this with my consultant? Because of my current size I am constantly told to lose weight to alleivate my symptoms, but it's not good enough. I know weight loss is important, but I was the same before I put on weight, so surely that should matter too? I'm scared that when I see my consultant he won't accept this and will just prescribe weight loss, which is not the outcome I want.

Has anyone else had this issue?

The weight loss route is the easiest for them to take tbh but as you say some ladies do improve by losing weight but others dont (I didnt at all and Ive been fat and thinner). Are you seeing an endocrinologist or gynae?
