Could I have pcos?

Postby Rain005 » Tue Aug 18, 2015 7:35 pm

Hey this is my first post in a forum and I would appreciate any advice and to decide if I should see my GP...

I am 31 and here are my symptoms.

Overweight 5ft1 weighing 12 stone.
Dark facial and stomach hair since puberty.
Bad acne since puberty had to take roaccutane to cure after a decade of having it.
Dermoid cyst removed with ovary few years back.
Mood swings / depression ... Bad pms!
Very regular periods... Is it possible it could be pcos????
After operation nurses said my sugar levels were just on the normal blood sugar limits after a few hours not eating and I was asked if diabeties was in my family. I have never had this checked.
My cousin has pcos and an under active thyroid. My aunt has type 2 diabeties. Hereditory info.
Spoke to doctor in my mid 20s. I asked for a pcos blood test. Came back negative.

I need some strong

Hi Rain005

I think it may be worth a visit to your GP as it sounds like you have most of the symptoms associated with PCOS. Sometimes it can take them a while for them to diagnose it. I had my first ultrasound on my ovaries at the age of17 (and was sent away saying I was fine, when I knew I wasn't), and I wasn't officially diagnosed with it until the age of 29! So no harm in encouraging your GP to investigate it further. All the best :)

Thanks that's what I was looking for as an answer. Is it still possible to have regular periods with the condition? I would say my energy levels feel worse each year!

Thanks for the advice,

So u went to doctors today...

Told her about facial hair, the high sugar test, the cyst. She said that when I was getting the chat and ovary removed the doctors would have known if i have polycystic ovaries. Also terminal hair I had in the chin, neck and stomach is normal. I felt like I was wasting her tine and she maybe thought I was worrying about nothing. The second doc to push me aside probably due to money I bet.

She did put me forward for a fasting blood sugar test and thyroid check. Is this worth going to? I feel like a waste of time
