Newly Diagnosed-this explains a lot! Also have Crohn's

Hello everyone, I am new :)

I am 29, miscarried my baby (1st pregnancy) and after the miscarriage I still haven't had a period. I found out I had PCOS on Friday due to having a scan as my doctor (finally!) agreed something must be wrong. I have been on hormonal contraception since I was 16 which possibly made me have normal cycles all of my life, hence why it has taken me so long to get diagnosed

The biggest shock is that I have never been able to lose weight, all my life docs have tested my thyroid and didn't think to check glucose or insulin, but suddenly all of this makes apple belly, my constant hunger and insatiable desire for sugar and cakes, my weird mood changes when i eat etc.

Problem is, because I have Crohn's I have to be quite careful with what I eat! I was diagnosed with Crohn's at 19 and prescribed steroids. My weight ballooned and I went from a size 10-12 to a size 18-20 in the space of 3 months. For about 7 years I was unable to lose the weight and tried EVERY diet - slimming world, slim fast, Atkins, a similar-to-Atkins thing, calorie counting, etc etc. I finally had some success with Weight Watchers, then when I hit a plateau I starved myself until I was finally a healthy BMI. Since then the weight has slowly crept back on, but fluctuates so wildly! Part of me is so angry that the docs never listened to me and never believed me when I said I was gaining/losing 5-6lb a week! But at least now that I know what the problem is I can try and tackle it myself.

I went to the doctors today and she is going to send me to a specialist gynaecologist, and after doing a bit of googling I think Metformin sounds like it could be the thing for me...I need to lose about 18lb and I want to get pregnant and not lose my baby this time, it was so so hard, actually its the worst thing that has ever happened to me in my life and I've seen/been through a lot! I'm starting on a low GI diet, and I am also trying apple cider vinegar as there seems to be some link there with it helping to re-sensitise your cells to insulin...has anyone tried apple cider vinegar?

Thanks ladies :)
