simvastatin does it affect early pregnancy loss???

Postby ShazzaM74 » Thu Jun 27, 2013 8:45 am

Hi ladies, just wanted to know whether anyone is on it for cholesterol and whether or not to stop it way before trying again after mc. Last time I stopped it when I found out that I was pregnant at about 6wks but I'm just wondering whether it was too late as I've read somewhere that you need cholesterol to make progesterone and sustain a pregnancy. Any experiences would be greatly received. My cholesterol is only about 3.2 at the mo but was nearer 6 when I started it a few years ago.

I dont know anything about statins or cholesterol meds but if there is a link to low progesterone, you can be given progeterone supplements in the 2ww and early pregnancy. Maybe worth a chat to GP/ consultant / fertility clinic? x

I agree with Sicily, if your cholesterol us down to 3.2 it might be good to get a review now anyway although I don't know the answer to your Q. Now might be a good time to come off the stain and up the porridge / healthy eating and exercise for control now that you're in the healthy range.
