Hi Amber,
An ERPC is the operation some women choose to have to remove the "Retained Products of Conception" (that's the RPC part - I forget what the "E" stands for).
From what I can gather from your other post, you're going through this naturally, and so it's unlikely that you'll need an ERPC.
The only time you may need one after a natural miscarriage is if it is incomplete. Usually you'll be offered a scan to check that everything has passed and options as to what to do next if not.
Thinking of you x x

Thanks Doobykat - It sounds a bit like a D & C. I have to go back for a scan next week and I am hoping that my womb will be clear embryo/fetus and all the blood that goes with it. It would be nice to see it looking like the beginning of the follicular phase. Thankfully the pain has subsided and I am now just bleeding like a normal period. Then I have just got to get my health back on track to get myself ovulating again as soon as possible.

Hi Amber
Doobycat explained it better than I could- this is my go before I read Doobeys!! Normally an ERPC is done when it is found that the baby has died or not progressed and a miscarriage has not happened!! You may have been offered one if you had a scan and it was seen earlier that your preg hadn't proressed and you hadn't misscarried you prob would have been offered it.. It basically is a procedure that sucks out the pregnancy to clear everything away! E stands for evacuation.. (Doobey glad you remembered the rest!) Hope you ok honey?? I'm sure it's been a terrible time for you xxxx

Thanks Sazwell - it sounds like something I should have had a few weeks ago if I had known. Oh well next time I will ask if I can get a scan earlier.

I am feeling physically better in that the pain has gone and I have managed to eat breakfast and got some liquids in me. I am so tired though, pain is exhausting it must have been the equivalent of labour pains - well I suppose it was technically the same in which the body was trying to get rid of the fetus.

The rest of it is knowing that I am back at square one like many of us here. All we can do is pray for better luck next time I suppose.

They are very similar to labour pains/contractions.
Having had Erin inbetween my two miscarriages, I knew that that was definitely what I was experiencing this last time round & how to deal with them better.
It does take it out of you, I know, so make sure you rest up as much as you can for the next little while.
Take care & if you need me/any of us on here that know what you're going through, give me/us a shout {{{hugs}}} x x

Thanks Doobykat, I think one of the hardest things is knowing that one of my friends due date is a week before mine was. I hope I can get myself back on track before then and it will help me get through next June. At least I know I can get pregnant without the need for fertility treatment but I still need to prove to myself I can get through the whole 9 months.

Oh Amber I can so sympathise there, my friend is due on the exact same day I was (22nd April) I am also hoping I am strong enough by then to deal with it but I also know it will forever be a constant reminder, every birthday etc. I am glad you are feeling a bit better, the physical pain of a natural miscarriage is awful but I found that after I passed the pregnancy that the bleeding was more normal and although lasted longer than a normal period it did tail off and then stop. Big hugs Hun, it's such a horrible experience to ever have to go through xxxx

Thanks WR83, the cramps have now gone and the bleeding is just like a normal flow period. I wish I could use tampons so I could forget about it for a bit. I went back to uni today which was nice to have some social interaction to take my mind off it. Everyone was really nice about it but I still think it is going to take some time to get over the psychological pain. It would be nice to get pregnant again before June and that will help, still I have got to wait until my body is ready to try again and I don't know when that will be. I need to build up the blood again so guess I need to get that red meat down me and take my cod liver oil everyday!
