How picky are councils?

Postby Helen84 » Fri Mar 12, 2010 9:24 am

I want to know, when adoptiong how picky they are? Basically we applied for info through baranardos. My husband and i want to adopt , even if we have our own child naturally. Its something i have wanted to do!

Basically my husband has an auto immune liver disease. One of the side effects is tiredness, but he leads a normal life and copes really well with this. Our problem is over the years his conditions could get worse, which may lead to a liver transplant. But it could also stay stable like this till he gets old! We dont know.

Will councils/adoptions agencies say no to us because of this?

sorry, I have no idea really, but a very good friend of mine wasn't allowed to adopt through Bristol City Council, but has now had her little girl for 3 years through Barnados!!

She also has a condition (can't remember what it's called) which could deteriorate over the next few years or stay stable but there was no way to predict either way.

HTH. Good luck xx
The best thing about life is that it's never so bad that it can't get worse.
