Root canal???

Postby Buttons » Thu Jan 26, 2012 10:56 am

My dentist has told me that I may need to have a root canal and crown.

Is this very painful, I have already had this tooth filled twice.
I will £200-£300 to have this done.
Is it better just to have the tooth pulled out?

Much better to have a root canal than having it pulled. I had a root canal a few years ago, it was painful but they remove the nerve as part of the procedure and I have not looked back. Be brave it will be worth it in the end.

Ive had a root canal and it didnt hurt at all. once they inject you you cant feel a thing.I also had a crown but that fell out a few years later. dont worry you'll be fine :) .

This is just my personal experience- I know everybody is different.

My NHS dentist recommended I have a root canal, I felt no pain whatsoever when they were doing it but as soon as the numbing wore off I was in agony. I was in agony for 2 weeks and had to have it out in the end anyway, I wish I just had it out in the first place.

If you can't see it (i.e. it is near the back) I would just have it out, and you know you won't have any further problems with it, I would never have a root canal again.

Good luck x
