I've contemplated blogging for ages, but never get started. Am not very tech savvy so anyone have any ideas which are the best and most straightforward to use?

A lot of people have been asking this recently. The two I would say are the best are eblogger and wordpress.com. Everyone has their own preferences so you should look at them all and decide for yourself. The majority are free so you could have one in each and use the one you like best.

You can have your own hosted blog but that would cost money so not a lot of people do that when they just start out.

I use blogger and love it. I think for a failsafe easy-option, then it's fine. If you want something more complex, go for wordpress or similar.
