Hello Ladies

It's been a long time since I posted on verity! After 7 long years of ttc, 3 IVF cycles and plenty of support from the lovey verity PCOS ladies, we finally have our little miracle. Our baby boy Daniel was born on 24th July this year. :)

Anyway, after a few trips back and forward to the GP he has finally been diagnosed with severe reflux and prescribed Ranitidine. It does seem to be helping him a lot. My question is, the dosage of Ranitidine is based on his weight, how often does this need to be reviewed? Neither he hospital nor the GP have taken responsibility for this, so it would be good to know roughly when it should be reviewed so I can contact them.

Thanks in advance

Hello! And congrats! It needs to be reviewed very regularly ie every 3 or so weeks so it can be increased. It can stop working after a few weeks but there are other options if it does. We had/are having a horrendous to time with silent reflux and ended up having to tube feed our little one for 3 months so feel free to message anytime if you need any help x

Thanks for your reply. I think I'll take him every other week to get weighed. Two weeks ago they increased it by quite a lot, although the dr wasn't 100% sure of the process or the calculation. So far (*touch wood*) it seems to be working, so much so that over the last week we've had him sleeping in 5-6 hour stretches. The last couple of nights haven't been as good, maybe I need to weigh again!!
I'm sorry you had such a tough time with your little one, that must have been awful. I hope you are starting to come through the other side.
