Hi dudders great to see you back I was worried about you and asked a few times and then didnt like to keep asking as things were so unsure. But so pleased for you and great to hear you have heard hb which is a good sign. So how many weeks are you? How small is baby are you just a few days behind what you should be?

Jaffa I take extra folic acid but not hight dose which is the 5mg stuff and asprin under the go ahead from epsom clinic. I asked gp and nurses etc at drs and no one would actually "authorise" it as such until I saw a consultant. Saying that you can buy rhe asprin over the counter and the folic acid I just take extra so I take pregnacare max and then I add a holland and barret 800mg just for an extra boost! Hope that helps...

HI Dudders

My EPU will only give scans to women who have had previous miscarriages, if your baby is a bit small maybe you ovulated a bit later than you thought. Ovulation is often not like the text book.

I am taking folate instead of folic acid. It is more expensive but it is more absorpable than folic acid. Folic acid has to be converted in the body to folate and not everybody can convert it efficiently, hence higher doses are recommended. Solgar are a good range to get if anyone is interested.

Anybody thought about new clothes yet? I had to get some new bras (non-wired) as mine where getting a bit small. I am just wondering how long I have until I will need some wider waisted clothes. I could certainly feel a little bump when I had my scan on Saturday. I am hoping to wait until the beginning of July before saying anything at work.

Both Jaffa and I have had previous miscarriages Amber so not sure what you're meaning there? Having been through this for almost 3 years, I've researched all aspects of infertility inside and out. I'm well aware that ovulation is a strange beast but am also perfectly aware of how it works. I was tracking ovulation and had bloods at 11dpo. The likelihood of this being wrong as my levels were high even for 11 dpo are slim.

My IVF baby was small too and I had a mmc around the 9 week mark hence the inordinate amount of worry this time. I am 7 weeks today and baby is about half the size it should be. At 6+3 I was vaguely dated as 5-6 weeks and have been given no date today, but this was a quick scan as a favour by my consultant who just thinks my dates are wrong, when his nurse and I both know they are not. Honestly I don't see a happy ending for us - small babies and sacs at this stage almost always end in miscarriage and usually it's a genetic defect. With the tiny odds we always seem to hit, we should have won the lottery by now! But then we only hit the tiny percentages nobody wants to :'(

Hi Dudders

Sorry about you previous experiences, what I meant was what I was told by EPU as they are always getting requests for early scans and they have to prioritise due to the lack of staff. I am sure in your circumstances they would say yes, your GP will be able to get you an appointment with them.

I had a mmc a couple of years ago and it is a horrendous experience so I really hope you don't have to go through it again.

It has taken me six years to get here and I had given up all hope and made other plans for my life. I still can't guarentee that I will get to the live birth stage.

good luck with your next scan.

I have seen the epu and am already booked in with a consultant there - I was suggesting what Jaffa might say. As you rightly say they are overloaded with time wasters and although she SHOULD be seen by the epu with two previous miscarriages sometimes you have to be a little creative.

Thanks girls for all the advice and good wishes, I will see what the GP says tomo. I also think it's bad to fib but at most I am going to either pretend I don't know when I conceived, or say my last AF was a date that makes me the right weeks along. Last time I told them my real last AF but since I ovulate on day 30ish that added 2 weeks into my pregnancy in their records and it always upset me. They were absolute idiots no one would listen to me saying I knew when I had ovulated.
Dudders I am crossing everything for you. This is a horrible waiting game, I should be happy but I'm just worried!

Yes Jaffa, so annoying when they don't listen - I haven't really given my lmp because I didn't ov until cd23 and don't need the added stress! Fingers crossed for tomorrow ((hugs))

Just sick with worry now - have to wait until next Monday now and think I may just go loopy by then!

Hi. Hope everyone is ok. I went to the GP and he said my thyroid result was fine and then I said I am pregnant again and he filled in the midwife referral form which freaked me out a bit. I said isn't it a bit early for that?! The good thing is he put unknown date of lmp so hopefully I won't have that ridiculous wrong dating problem this time. My preg test was more bold this morning than any I did 6 weeks ago so fingers crossed! I forgot to ask for the blood test they do 48 hours apart. Oh well.
How is everyone today? Xx

I wouldn't necessarily worry about the bloods Jaffa - they have scared the living day lights out of me this time! They supposedly double every 48 hours - which my first two did and then a week later everyone was convinced I would miscarry and yet here we are with a heartbeat even though between 14dpo and 21dpo my levels only doubled in a WEEK!

We're far from out of the woods, but you get the gist! I'm seeing the doctor on Thursday - strangely they're insisting I see them to get my scan and mw referral. I know they're going to send me home with a maternity notes folder and that's the last thing I want! I just want to do the bare minimum at this stage - my maternity folder taunted me for weeks after the mc last year until hubby hid it away. To be honest with you, I don't even know where he hid it!

Did your GP say anything about a referral for an earlier dating scan or anything Jaffa?

Hello. I wrote a lovely reply then it disappeared! Anyway, no early scan for me, he sent my pregnancy referral to the midwives which freaked me out a bit, bit early for that! he did write all my history and put unknown lmp date which was good, and said that if they wanted me earlier than usual they would contact me. Also said to go to EPU if I get any troubles.

I know what you mean about hiding things away, I have a holdall full of bigger jeans and bras and my preg book stuffed in the back of a cupboard, I never got a maternity folder but that would freak me out.

I am hoping, wishing and praying we all get our miracles xx
