hello ladies

decided to come on over to this section...so hello to everyone :)

Loved seeing the scans of the lady (ash?) from ESH - i grew up near there and have many friends still there, including a paed matron at ESH!

had apptmnt with midwife today, am defo pregnant (!) and 8 weeks along. Appt at local mat hosp on monday for early scan and meeting the diabetes mat care team. we go from there and fingers crossed no more m/c or indeed any effects from the meds i was taking on the baby.

i am going from no appetite to ravenous hunger and hypo's so am trying to control it. fruit and milk taste hideous to me at the mo, am having to nap in the afternoon and the boobs are hurting somewhat - bang goes sleeping on my front!

trying to get my head round how long this pregnancy will be - edd dec19th seems a hell of a very very long way off when everything you do, eat or drink has to be monitored. question for my pancreas - can't you suddenly start working please?!

hope everyone is well and enjoying the sunshine.

*runs over excitedly from the ttc board*
Had my scan today and everything is great! Baby is about 10 weeks but too little for an accurate date so I go back in 3 weeks for a dating scan! Will get a proper EDD then, so will keep you posted.

It's been a crazy day today (my 2 1/2 month old neice is seriously ill in hospital) with lots of ups and downs so I'm sorry about this being such a quick post.

Only 30 weeks to go!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Debbs I am also O negative. When I had DS I had injections - not too sore or anything to worry about. He turned out to be A positive. When I had miscarriage last year had to have the injections again and my doc checked my bloods with this pregnancy. All is fine.

It is important to report any bleeding during the pregnancy. My aunt had a termination when very young and didn't tell anyone and in later life had 3 full term still births because she had built up antibodies - this was 30 years ago, mind you. She went on to have 2 daughters - both O neg. It's nothing to worry about, but as I said any bleeding needs to be reported.

Welcome to the newbies and hope your MS isn't too bad - sooo happy to be out of that phase. Suffering from LOW blood pressure but guess it is better than high bp.

Sooze great news on the scan & you get another one too :D have put your name on the list.

jacjac not long until your early scan :D good luck!

When I saw the midwife I asked about sleeping as I normally sleep on my back but found that I had started to roll over in my sleep which I dont normally do. She said that I should start sleeping on my side and use a pillow to get bump comfy! (I thought that was for much later on but it actually works!)
I can't normally sleep on my side as it upsets my IBS weirdly but after the first night being a little uncomfortable I actually quite like sleeping on my side and the pillow stops me from rolling around or laying twisted etc.
Although DH now wants his pillow back  but I quite like it! lol

Hope all mummys to be & bumps are doing well.
Are you all in maternity clothes now?

The lady in the chippy who I don't know said to me how long have you got left?! I said oh ages I'm 16 weeks! I'm really not that big! lol

Hi Snooze and Jac - welcome xxx

Wishing - ive bought a few maternity trousers but I can still fit into some of my regular clothes. I dont think anyone would notice I was pregnant if didnt tell them - my bum seems to have expanded more than my belly lol.

Ive had 3 episodes of being very sick this past week, literally unable to stop. I was hoping that the sickness had passed and every time I start to think it is it starts again!
I got home from work yesterday to a message from my midwife on my answer phone saying can I call her back today. I spent the whole night worrying that something must be wrong with my blood test results or something when all she wanteed was to know the embryo transfer date grrr. Even if she had said 'nothing to worry about' in the message would have made all the difference.

Anyway enough of my moaning, I hope everybody is well xxxx

Hi all

Thought I would pop over to this thread now :) Im due on 9th Oct with my precious little twin girls. I may end up having these early as I lost my little girl Megan last year and I have had to have a stitch put in place to make sure my cervix stays closed, So I hope they stay put until at least September :)

Hello to Kelly and jacjac. I hope everything goes well for you both.

I had my scan today and I'm around 10 weeks, so I have to go back in 2 weeks for due date and screening scan.

It's a bit too early for me to show yet, but I feel bloated. Went swimming with my DS today and was worried the group might start to guess, but there were no tell tale looks. Hoping to stay in normal clothes for a while yet, but I'm fully aware that 2nd time round you get a lot bigger a lot quicker!

Mrs B - lovely to see you on here too. I didn't twig with the new name!

HI all,

Africagirl - ive only had heartburn once and it was awful, im really hoping I dont get it again - cold milk helped it for me!

Scoobydoo - Glad your scan went well, lovely that you only have to wait 2 weeks for your next one - I cant wait for my next one, June 15th seems ages away lol

Hi KellyJ - welcome, sorry to hear about baby Megan - I cant imagin how devestating that must have been for you both. Congratulations on the twins though and I really hope you carry them well into late September/October xxx

Can anyone advise me on bras at all? Ive was a 34A and quickly went to 34B so bought 2 maternity sleep bras thinking that they would last the whole pregnancy but now they dont fit already so I went into town yesterday and to my great surprise im now a 36D!!! I figured that I would be about a D cup when im 9months not 15 weeks. So what should I be buying maternity bra's or normal ones???? Has anyone else had their boobs get so big so quickly?

Hope everyone else is ok xxxx

Daisipoppi - Glad the scan went well and the dates tally.

Georgie - Glad scan went well. Good luck for app Monday. Let us know how it goes.

Jacjac - Glad midwife app went well. I too sleep on my front and its horrible having to change isn’t it?

Soooze - Hiya hun. How’s the niece? Much better I hope.

Africagirl - Don’t start me on heartburn!!! LOL I have had it from the very start. Its calmed down a bit but its horrible isn’t it? I have a bottle of gaviscon (recommended by doc) and it does the trick. Have you taken anything for it?

Wishing - I have to sleep on my side as well now with a pillow under bump and find its better with it there. I also read its better to lie on the left side rather than right but cant find where I read it or why. LOL. Good source of info I am aren’t I?

Taurus - Hope the sickness has stopped now hun and your feeling much better. I’m like you with the clothes. I’ve bought a few maternity pieces but fit into my regular clothes mostly as well. Just reading through the posts in order and have come to your bra post. Hope you don’t mind me laughing but when you get an answer to that question let me know! I started as a 36G and dread to think what the heck they are at now. I was told to make sure any bra you get does up on the tightest strap to make sure you have room to expand but don’t think that would do for you really. Hope your ok hun.

Kelly - Hiya. Have posted on the twins thread for a while with you. Hope your ok and taking it easy. Love the names you picked out and very meaningful.

Scoobydoo - Hiya. That’s how I felt at first. Bloated but not showing. LOL so how are you planning to hide in your swimsuit then? The old towel and slip in trick?

Anyone else start to feel the bumps move yet? It started by feeling a vibrating sort of buzz. Didn’t know what it was but when someone said like butterfly wings I thought heck yes. So I have been feeling them move most of the week and had no idea. It doesn’t happen all the time but Sat was a busy day for them and lots of buzzing. That’s right isn’t it ladies? Don’t want to tell people I can feel them if its not. Got consultant app on Fri, roll on. Means were closer to the 20 wk scan then.

Take care and sorry if I missed anyone,

Debbs

Yay for feeling movements Debs, it's so magical. I haven't yet, too early. But every wind bubble makes me wonder!

I reach the magic milestone of 12 weeks tomorrow. Nausea all but gone (only get it after cream buns or ice cream - why not cabbage?)

I'm also sleeping on my side, with a pillow. trying to sleep on my left but it's not my natural position, I'm usually on my back or tummy - both out of the question now. Laying on your left is recommended because of blood flow to the placenta - and for venous return to your heart. (if a pregnant woman needs CPR you have to wedge them onto their left side).

My boobs are also massive. I was measured in March after I lost a lot of weight and was a 36B. I also bought two soft bras for sleeping when I got my BFP, that lasted all of 3 weeks. I'm now back in my old DD bras and am bursting out. Will go and get measured when I'm off work the week after next. I will probably go to M&S as they do maternity bras, which I hope will have room for increase! anyone with any other suggestions? DH told me today he's scared they'll go off in his face! They are like comedy breasts men wear on stag weekends!

Lots of love to all xxx

taurus5, wow that's an impressive increase! lol
I's just fitting in my larger size bras that I haven't worn for a while as I had lost weight and got smaller, I will need to get measured soon and get some new bras.

Debbs :D yay to feeling your babies!
My MW asked me too at 16 weeks, which I thought was a little early to ask. I'm now eagerly waiting to feel movements, try to focus on my tummy as I'm worried I won't notice it!
My friend also said the left side is best to sleep on which is typical as I had started to sleep on my right! The midwife said either side?!

Has anyone got any pregnancy books? I saw one in Mamas and Papas called your pregnancy bible and wondered if it was worth getting, or any other suggestions?

georgie76, whooo for :D 12 weeks!

Hi KellyJHarris ooh more twins, Congratulations!

Scoobyd00, once you have your 12 week scan & EDD let me know & I will add you to the list

jacjac good luck for your early scan today!

I'm 17 weeks today! I think baby must be growing a lot at the moment as I was so tired at the weekend, ready to go to sleep both nights at 8pm but held off until 9pm!
I am entirely in maternity clothes, have got a few more bits this last week including some maternity jeans which feel so comfy & I cannot wait to wear!

OMG ! what a day :(

Sorry if I dont get time for personals but just popping on to let u know what happened today before I have to go pick up Dillon from school at 2:30pm as he has a councilling session today at 3:15pm.

Anyway, I went for my usual midwife appointment and she had a good feel of my tummy and told me that twin 1 was 2/5 engaged - Cause I was like what? it cant be im not even 20 weeks yet and so she put the fear of god into me that yet again I was going into pre term labour. So I was rushed off up the hospital for emergency consultant appointment and scan.

Get up there and everyone is rushing around like something was very wrong so of course I burst into tears thinking I was going to loose my girls. Within a few mins we was whisked into the ultrasound room where the sonographer was met with the consultant and another consultant I did not know and they began scanning me and all I said was please tell me they are going to be ok, to which I was shhhhh'd and told to wait till they know whats going on ( felt awful but I wanted to know) anyway within a few minutes they turned the screen saying " well here are your twins bodys and here are there heads! right up the top of my bump and no where near the bottom let alone engaged!!! STUPID MIDWIFE... anyways whilst I was there they measured my cervix and checked the stitch was still holding which it is and told me to come back next week which is when my original appointment was so I can have all my normal checks etc! They did confirm that both are Girls :) so I am pretty sure we have enough confirmation now and they did say that they do like more like identical twins now but they will do all that next week.

I have rang my GP's and told then that I want a new midwife! I know that might sound drastic but all the un-necessary worry has really ben hard especially as I only lost Megan in September I dont need someone who clearly cant tell the difference from head to bum and whether something is engaged! have explained all this to the surgery and told me that the midwife in question will call me and go through it all with me? no idea why as I wont change my mind.

early scan - earlier being the word!

Postby jacjac » Mon May 16, 2011 4:18 pm

hi ladies - thanks so much for everyones tips and wishes - i will be getting the old bolster pillow sausage thing out and using that as a pillow for me side/front sleeping arrangements. god job we have a superking bed - OH is now at home in the week, him, me, plus extra pillows = not much room!

i ended up having an early scan on Friday last week at the EPAU. had some bleeding overnight and midwife got me an appt. Apparently I am 7 weeks and 6 days today - this proves that egg/sperm 'meet' didn't occur til 48 hours after the BDing! very worried on friday but all well - bleeding was a 10mm haematoma - only 1mm smaller than the embryo at the mo. hopefully it'll reabsorb itself and embryo will be ok. OHs face at the sight of the grey blob (he called it a jelly bean) on screen with a feotal pole 'heartbeat' was amazing

So, ante-natal appointment today. Having listened to the NHS clerks argue for nearly 35 minutes (highly professional - not) i interupted them and asked about my apptment running late. Was then seen by midwife, diabetes specialist midwife, diabetes specilaist nurse and a consultant, ooh and a sulky med student sat in as well. All is well from a diabetes view which is a relief. :) i just wish they would stop referring to me as 'the diabetic new one'. you wouldnt refer to me as 'the wheelchair ginger new one' or 'the learning disabled chinese new one' so stop it!!

we go back in 3 weks for next scan and bloods, plus in 7 weeks for endocrinology apptmnt. i am still freezing all the time and the boobs are still sore. i won't mention the nausea that had me clining to OH for life in Asda yesterday!

fingers crossed til then, we carry on as normal. next pressing task is to tell work.

take care everyone and keep well
