Hi Everyone!
This thread has gone quiet now. We are doing well apart from the old terrible twos! Daniel is quite a tantrummer but Katie isn't too bad, it's like she wants to but can't be bothered! Their language is coming on, especially Daniel. Katie has another hearing appt in a couple of wks and then we have an appt with their consultant so we'll see what he says. I am thinking about taking the sides off their cots after we have been away in August but am nervous about it. We are no where near potty training yet but I'm in no rush.

Kelly that's shocking news. One of my friends had the same thing happen to her DS dad, only he knows about it.

Hi
We had an appt with the consultant today. He is very happy with Daniel. He is however concerned about Katie's growth, she only weighed 9.8kg today with her clothes on, she weighs 10.1/2 at home naked! So he wants to see us again in 6 mths. He wasn't too bothered about anything else. He said he could see Katie's adenoids which might be causing all her snot but to try antihistamines and if it doesn't improve he will refer her to ENT. It feels like every time we go there is something else that is stopping us getting discharged. I feel ike i must be going wrong somewhere. I try really hard to get them to eat heathily as i don't want them to have weight issues when they're older like me and don't let them have puds without their main course but feels like i should just let her eat whatever she wants if it gets the weight on. Katie's hearing test went better last week but she still hasn't passed it so we have to go back there in 3 mths. Hope everyine else is doing well.

Michelle, sorry to hear things didnt go as you wanted today. Surely as long as Katie is happy and healthy the weight shouldnt be an issue? Maybe she will just be petite?
It sounds like youre doing all the right things with their eating so dont go biting your nose off to spite your face as it could all back fire.
We dont offer any yoghurts etc if a meal is refused but i will allow fruit if he asks for it, but thats it. On Tuesday Harris refused his dinner so he went to bed with an empty tummy (ate lunch at 11.30am). It used to stress me out but now i realise he wont actually starve to death!!
Did Daniel get discharged?
Chin up honey. Dont worry. We were told to expect to be under consultant care until possibly 2 - 2.5 years corrected so i was pretty shocked when he signed Harris off this week.
Hugs. xx

Thanks Heather, he would discharge Daniel but said as Katie was coming anyway he would see him too so that's good at least. I don't know why her weight is suddenly an issue, will have to wait for the letter to come through. He also mentioned speech therapy but he is a man of few words so not sure if he has referred or not! x

This is all such a joke! I'm actually angry for you!! There is nothing wrong with Katie's weight! She's healthy and active - maybe she just is going to be petite! I'm also angry that nobody seems to give a f**k about the twins weights! Emilie is just under 10kg and Arran is just over - that's with clothes on and at just over 2yrs corrected, so if your docs are to be believed then my two are underweight too! We were discharged last year from the hospital check-up's (by phone!!) and the only thing the HV had an issue with a couple of months ago was their speech - I think she'd change her tune about that if she heard them now tho! Michelle please don't get yourself in a state over this - you know your kids better than anyone else does and you'd be the first to notice if there was a major problem with either of them. HOW can they just pigeon-hole all kids according to age?? they're all so different with ALL aspects of their development! One friend's little boy was up and walking at 9 months, another was potty trained by 1 and another has a 2 year old who is talking as though she's 10!! (complete with attitude). And on the flip-side another friend's little boy is 5 and I still can't understand what he says!! It's all just bulls*it!!

Anyway, I'll get off my soap box now... sorry for rant - think I may be due a visit from the painters!

Michelles right, it is all just a box ticking exercise sometimes when it comes to prem babies and they are on the cusp of getting discharged. Our consultant said a community paed would be in touch, eh?? For what? Like i say, its all box ticking.
Weight and size shouldnt be an issue at all as long as they are healthy.
Harris isnt exactly big. In fact i was worried about his size until last month as i thought he always seemed smaller than other 2 year olds. He was weighed the other day and was 12.5kg so hes fine and me and his dad arent tall or big so hes not going to be massive anyway (Michelle, I reckon you need to calibrate ur scales as Arran is way heavier than Harris, LOL).
Dont stress honey. Youre kids are fab.

I was told that they expect kids to be 10kg by one and 12 kg by two, Daniel was 11.8kg so he was happy with him. They also expect babies to be born at 7lb+ but ours obviously weren't! How many term babies are over 9x the weight the were born at! Dh is home and he's not bothered, said just ignore it. Thing is they didn't even give any advice of how to change things! I'm only 5'3" and although DH is tall (like Daniel) he is only 32" waist so if she has my height and her Daddy's weight, she's always gonna be petite. Plus since the last measurement she has started walking properly so that's gonna have an impact. Michelle - if i were you stay away from health professionals unless you're concerned cos they just give you a complex! Your two are very similar to mine.
Heather-not sure what's happening with your paed situation, maybe community paed is less specialised and more general?? Harris is doing great x.

Wow! It's been a while since I have posted. I keep up with most of you on FBook though so i know how the LOs are.

Euan is an absolute star! I can't believe he is 3 Sept 5th....it only seems like yesterday I was telling you all about my twins!!

We should be so proud of all our babies...they have been through sooooo much and look at them all now!!

Michelle....seriously, I think the Dr is just being overly cautious. I was desperate for Euan to be discharged and when he was I was really upset!! I felt really lost and felt happier eith him being checked (though I'm over the moon now!) Euan was not much bigger when he was discharged...he will always be small and nowhere near as big as his dad!! (6ft3 rugby player!) Chin up xx

Hope everyone is well

Hi all

Sorry I have been away for a while and not updated! alots happened!

The nursery is finished and all ready for the girls to come ( will post a pic asap!) we made up the double buggy we got yesterday and it now feels real and that we will be taking our babies home this time. I have also been given my induction date if I dont go into labour myself and its Friday 9th Septmeber.

Im looking forward to it but also I am dreading it as it means the girls will be born a few days before the 1 year anniversary of Megans death and thats going to be really hard. I know i'll have the girls to help me get through it but having them here is only going to make it worse I fear as she was just not strong enough to be here.

Stitch will come out ( as long as I dont start labouring myself) at 9am or there abouts on the 9th and then they will see what happens to my cervix , if it starts dilating itself they will just keep an eye on me and make sure i am progressing well, if not then they have said they will try start me off with the drip but if I am not pregressing after a few hours then they will send me round for a c-section just to be on the safe side! I have a feeling tho I wont need a C Section as I've started to have a a few braxtons which for me means that I will go into labour soon! but it could be different with this pregnancy.
Consultant has said that its likely if I get to 35/36 weeks before labouring then the girls will not need any special care obviously we will know more when they are here but he feels that they are both going to be about 6lbs and will be fine - Lets hope he is right.

Can barely move now am so big and stretched! my bump is so heavy and TBH i cant wait for it to be gone as ive had nothing but back pain since about 20 weeks!, ive also got some horride veins which have popped in my legs due to the weight of the bump! never had stretch marks with Dillon or Megan but Lily and Grace have given me hundrends of them :) lovely! As I said I am excited about them coming now but it is overshadowed by the anniversary!

Is there any way I can make it a joyus occassion rather than filled with sadness and guilt?

BIG UPDATE :

Baby Lilly Megan Harris born 15th August 2011 @ 3:55am weighing a huge (4lb 3oz)- Loads of brown hair, perfect in every way breathing on her own and all signs are good in special care as precaution and gestational age.

Baby Grace Elizabeth Megan Harris born 15th August 2011 @ 4:07am weighing an even bigger 4lb 6.5oz Loads of brown hair just like her sister and also perfect in every way, she is also breathing on her own and all signs are good in special care as precaution and gestational age.

Had a natural birth and all went as it should ( i'll do a birth story in next few days) Everyone is very very shocked by the girls weights and the hospital said this all points in favour of the girls being out of hospital soon and they hope they will need no or very little medical intervention.

Im totally in love and besotted with them and just glad they are not in the NICU and doing so well. As soon as I can I will update further

Lots of Love

The girls are doing so well :) they are not needing any help what so ever and I know its because their sister is watching over them and making sure they are healthy and happy.

Yesterday was amazing, I feed both girls for the first time ( through there tube at the moment) and although it was a case of just holding up the tube and letting it slowly flow into them I felt like I was caring for them :) I changed there bums and washed their little faces :) and changed them into some teeny baby grows and had cuddles with them :)

Both are in incubators just to keep there temperature at the right level and they have feeding tubes just until there sucking reflex becomes stronger :)
They have said that cause the girls are doing so well I could take them home as soon as 5th september as long as they are feeding well on the bottle and both dont had any setbacks :) They are due to be weighed later on today and so we hope they have put on weight or at least stayed the same and not lost any as that could become problematic for them.

Just thought I would keep you updated :)
