Is ED the only way to conceive?

Postby Daizygirl » Sat Feb 04, 2017 2:28 pm

Hi, everybody! I have a very tough PCOS and it’s the main reason why I can’t conceive a baby. My problems started in my early childhood. I always used to be a little bit overweight. When I was ten, my first periods started. Then they didn’t come for nearly a year. My arms, legs and even belly started to be hairy very much. When I was 22, I weighed nearly 90 kg. This was the time I was firstly diagnosed with PCOS. My gyny prescribed me metformin, and I reduced my weight up to 65 kg. I managed to conceive, but my first pregnancy ended with a miscarriage when I was 10 weeks pregnant. My hubby and I waited nearly 6 months and started trying to conceive again. Up to this day or result is a BFN. We tried an ovarian stimulation, a laparoscopy and one IVF. Now, we want to try ED. Is there anybody here who is in the same boat like me??? Please, share your experience with me. I really need your help…

Hi, hun. Really sorry for you having such a bad experience with your PCOS. I also have it, but I managed to reduce my weight and get pregnant soon. Now, I’m a mum of 2 year-old son. My sister has also fertility issues. Though, she wasn’t diagnosed with PCOS, her tubes are blocked and she is going to do an IVF soon. She started her journey with googling some information and visiting various fertility sites and forums. You may do the same. I wish you good luck, hun! X

Hi! As far as I know most of girls with PCOS manage to conceive after having reduced their weight. What is your current weight? I managed to conceive my two children in the autumn. My gyny tells it’s the best time for conceiving a child if you have PCOS. So you may also take into consideration this fact. As for ED, I have a close friend who did it. She had a low ovarian reserve. They donated an egg from a young woman. Now, she’s a mum of one year-old son.

I weigh 82 kg. There is much fat on my belly and hips. I think this also influences on my fertility. I decided to reduce some weight and give up junk food. Maybe, it will make me healthier and influence on my fertility… Solar mantra, I’m really happy for your friend. We have been so long time TTC. Maybe, one day, I will also be able to post my happy story here.
P.S. Solar mantra, did your friend use fresh or frozen eggs for her egg donation program?

Daizygirl, I wish loads of baby dust come one you. If you take the right approach like reducing your weight and improving your health, you may succeed. I’m 100% sure of it. I would also advise you to take some vitamins. This may also help you in some way to become pregnant. As for my friend, she used frozen eggs. She conceived after the second shot.

We plan to use fresh eggs for our ED program. I’ve got interested in one clinic. They offer fresh oocytes. Firstly, the fertility specialist will study my menstrual cycle. He would decide the best time for the embryos transfer. I would have to take birth control pills to synchronize my periods with the donor’s ones. My hubby’s sperm will be picked up and used to fertilize the donor’s oocytes. Then three embryos will be transferred into my uterus. I’ll have to take hormone medications to support my possible pregnancy. The first pregnancy test will be done in two weeks. If the result is a positive one, I would take the medications up to the 12th week of pregnancy.

I think it’s a standard procedure. My close friend told me the same things about her DE IVF. She told me that the clinic she cycled in provided her with several profiles of donors. She couldn’t see the women’s photos, but she could read the detailed description of their appearance. She also could get information about her health condition, likes and hobbies. What about the clinic you’ve got interested in? How are they going to find an egg donor for you?

If we decide to deal with this clinic and sign up a contract with them, firstly, we’ll have to send them a short description of the woman who would suit us as an egg donor. We’ll have to specify such details as weight, height, eye and hair color. The clinic has a database of women who are willing to share their oocytes with the clients of the clinic. They’ll use a special software to find an appropriate donor for our program. If we sign up a contract with them, we’ll be able to see the donor’s 3D photo. This is the way they’re going to find an egg donor for our DE IVF. What do you think about it?

For me, it sounds quite ok. As far as I know, not all fertility clinics allow their clients to glimpse at the donor’s photos. If you’ll be able to see how the egg donor looks like, you’ll be able to make the right choice and it’s really great!!! However, will the clinic charge any additional fees for this opportunity? As far as I know, some fertility clinics do this. What about the clinic you’ve got interested in?
P.S. Btw, which clinic you’re going to deal with?

We’re going to deal with Biotexcom. It’s a Ukrainian fertility clinic situated in Kiev, the capital city of Ukraine. This clinic charges only a fixed sum. It means no additional fees will be charged from us. We may be able to make the payment either in cash or via a bank transfer. As we’re going to book several shots, our payment will be divided into several installments. I think it’s really very handy. What do you think about it?

So the clinic you’ve got interested in is situated in Ukraine… Frankly speaking, I don’t think it’s a nice choice, dear. The country isn’t a well-developed one. In addition, it’s at war now. Is it safe to go there?
P.S. If I were in your shoes, I would first do a small homework before going there. For instance, I would find an apartment where to stay before going to Ukraine.

The thing is we came from Ukraine the other days. The things in Ukraine aren’t as bad as you may think. We were in Kiev, the capital city of Ukraine. It’s quite a modern and European city. In addition, it was very peaceful. We were met at the airport by the driver and he took us to the clinic where we had an opportunity to meet our program manager and consult the fertility specialist. The clinic provided us with a cozy apartment not far from the city center. They sent a driver every time we had to visit the clinic. You won’t believe, but they even provided us with free meals. It was really very handy as we could concentrate on the main aim of our visit.

I think it’s really very cozy that they provided with all necessary things during your first visit. As fas as I know, not all fertility clinics are ready to provide their clients with accommodation and transportation services. For me, it’s a great option. So have you decided what to do further? Will you visit Biotexcom or not?
P.S. Can you share the list of the tests they require. I’ve also got interested in one fertility clinic so I’m willing to compare the list of the tests my RE requires.

I think we will deal with them. They do offer services for very reasonable prices. Though they are situated pretty far away, they offer free accommodation, interpreter and transportation services. Not all fertility clinics are ready to provide such services. As for the tests, I think it’s better to visit their official website. You may find a list of required tests on their official website. As far as I remember, they ask you to do some blood tests, hormone tests and ultrasound checks. They may also ask your hubby to do a sperm test.

Thanks, hun. We visited the official website of the clinic and they do seem to be quite ok. We liked their prices and the package of services they offer. We emailed the clinic the other day. They offered us to visit the clinic and consult the RE. I think we’ll go to Kiev next month. This is what we’re going to do.
