Hey guys,
Bascially I just want to know what you all think...I made an appointment with my gp for thursday because amongst other things I want to be tested for diabetes.
I feel knackered ALL the time, literally from the moment I get up till the moment I go to bed, I drink all the time and get thirsty quickly and I just read (sorry if TMI) that you can get yeast infections if diabetic and another reason im going is because my discharge has changed colour and it cant be an STI as ive had no play for a while =[ lol. what you think? do you think this could actually be diabetes?? Im on spiro which is a diurettic (sp?) which could explain the drinking ness however when I forget to re order my tablets - happens a lot lol, I still drink all the time.
Also my dad is diabetic and was diagnosed young as were my grandparents..plus I have pcos..
I dont know if im just completely over blowing all this putting 2 + 2 together and coming up with 2039092 , do you think im wasting the docs time?
Also I was told that blurred vision is a sign? is this true? I had awesome eye sight up until january this year and had to get glasses as I realised I couldnt see things when I Was driving and its gotten worse since then..
so what do you all think? I dont know I dont want to get to the docs and she tells me to just sleep more lol.
x

Hi Lexa, think you are right to get yourself checked out for diabetes. If it turns out your fears are unfounded then you can relax and stop worrying, if you have got it then you need some treatment. If you are on a low GI/ low Carb diet and or on Metformin, I think I would remind your GP because it could be controlling your blood sugar and you may need a GTT to show up any diabetes. Good luck for Thursday - let us know how you get on. Ann.

yes i would defo go to see your doctor, explain your symptoms and demand a glucose tolerance test to be on the safe side.Fasting blood tests at the surgery dont show up whether you have diabetes or not but GTT does.I have been feeling really tired no energy for months now and along with thirst and was generally worried about having diabetes,so went along to docs and asked for a GTT.Had it done last thurs and thankfully came back normal which was a relief!! better to be safe than sorry hun,im sure you be fine , goodluck!

heya..
I dont get results until next friday =/ so have to sit and wait about lol.
She also took loads of samples testing for pretty much everything you can think of tho! If this test comes back normal..do you think I should push for a gtt test?
They always have trouble finding my veins and I swear yesterday it was a case of poke and hope for the best, my arms are covered in bruises lol.

hi Lexa, yes i would deffo push for a GTT even if fasting blood comes back normal, just to be on the safe side!! I know what you mean about them having trouble finding veins, when having my GTT the nurse attempted my left arm poking twice there

then poked 4 times on right arm and finally got some blood out of me!!!! my veins just dont pop out and i had one hell of a bruise the next day

Hope you dont mind me butting in - but did you ever do the glucose test too? I only ask because my fasting blood test always come back as normal- even now that I am diabetic!
I have a theory that many of us will have normal fasting tests and only the glucose test will prove otherwise..
