whats the difference in blood tests

Postby Deb » Mon Feb 18, 2008 3:33 pm

i went to my GP the other day to ask for an insulin resistance test. He gave me a form and sent me off to the hospital. i thought i would be having a test where you dont eat anything that morning are then given a high glucose drink and then they take a test to see how you react. but i just got a blood test as soon as i arrived (no glucose drink) then sent on my way. is this the most effective way to test insulin resistence ? the tests have come back clear but i'm, not convinced. any advice ?

Hi thats the same that happened to me just had the blood test then sent away and mine came back normal as well. Just been reading the other posts saying that they had the drink. I was wondering how they would actually test for it if you hadn't eaten for the last 12 hours?
