constant bleeding...going crazy

Postby funkymonkeysam » Wed Apr 08, 2015 5:04 pm

Hi.

I started taking the pill in 2011 due to prolonged heavy bleeding. Nothing was looked in to why this was happening. The pill stopped the bleeding completly but in oct 2013 i got married so stopped taking it as we were ready for a baby. Had no bleeding until aug/sept 2014 which became prolonged and heavy again. I went to GP who sent me off for blood test and ultrasound. She said i had PCOS and also hypothyroid. She gave me levothyroxine and metformin ( i am very overweight). I have been pretty much constantly bleeding since december having 2 weeks total off. She gave me the pill again to try and regulate but had no change. She then tried utovlan to try and stop the bleeding then start the pill again. I stopped for 4 days and started bleeding again. She has given up and doesnt know what else to do with me. She has now referd me to a gynecologist to see if there is anything else going on. I know i need to loose weight but its really hard. Its coming between my husband and i and im starting to go crazy with it. The gp just doesnt seem botherd with how its affecting me mentally and just sends me on my way.

Has anyone else had this or could suggest what else i could try?
Just need to speak to people who understand me and know what it is like.

Hi Sam,

I have had similar experiences of prolonged bleeding. Once when I had my coil fitted and once before ttc. The first time they fitted my coil after I did a negative hpt mid cycle as I had such irregular cycles. I bled heavily for 3 months. Tmi....I mean going through a super tampon in an hour, it was awful. The second time was when we first went to the fertility clinic...I hadn't had a period for ages and had been bleeding for weeks. He said he could give me something to stop it if it was getting me down but he'd rather nature take its course. It's not good for our bodies to have such a build up in the lining so best if we just get it all out and then (if needs be) take something to give us a regular bleed....I want to say 4 periods a year but I never got to that point.

I had an underactive thyroid diagnosed at this point and once that was controlled and I lost weight for ttc my cycles became much more regular.

I'm sure the gynecologist will be able to tell you better!!! But I've been there love...just try to think it's better for your womb if it comes out. Then the hospital may be able to shed more light on it xxxx

Thanks for your reply. Its nice to know soemones else knows how it feels. Its really getting me down and seems never ending. I also have bleeding so heavy a super is soaked in an hour. My gp just says loosing weight will stop all the problems but the last place i want to be is the gym when im always bleeding through or want to just curl up with the worst pains ever. Its just so frustrating. Ive tried the meds to stop it, lasted 4 days. Ive tried pill to regulate. But nothing. I have an apointment at hospital next month so hopefully they can shed a bit more light and come up with something

It is sooooooo uncomfortable and irritating! Hope the hospital can shed some light. GPs mean well but when it comes to anything specialist they just can't know everything in detail xxxc

I feel very sorry about you. I think that can make a person crazy... Maybe you should try the Inofem, I think it can help you :)
