Hi, i know how you feel!

This has happened to me. I didnt have a period for a year and was worried. The doctors didnt say why which was strange as apparently anti-androgens (cyproterone acetate) can stop periods.

Im taking 50mg with my mercilon pill. I upped the dose to 100mg to see if it improved hair/hormone imbalance, but it made me feel so depressed!

So yeah, id say its normal. Not a good feeling i know :( good luck xx

I thought cyproterone acetate was the active ingredient in Dianette (the contraceptive pill). If this is the case, it would stop your periods until you had a 7 day break, which would induce a 'withdrawal bleed". You may be having it at a different dosage to the contraceptive pill though so the above information may be irrelevant!

Yeah I see what you mean, I know it can be used as a contraceptive. I take 50mg for two weeks from when I start my mercilon pill. Are you on cyproterone acetate?

No, I was for 8 months, in the form of Dianette (for contraception/excess facial hair).

I stopped it 4 months ago to TTC, but have NO ovulation or AF since. (Before Dianette, my AF was every 30 days give or take 2 days).

I am never taking it again! I truly believe it is the current cause of my anovulation - maybe it has triggered something in relation to my PCOS.

Ohhh I see! I was on dianette a few years ago and it gave me bad depression and bad mood swings. I've been but on antidepressants recently as cyproterone acetate makes me feel depressed most of the time, I guess it's because it's got dianette in!

Oh really? That's strange as the same happened to me. I was on cyproterone acetate a couple of years ago, came off it and didn't get a period for over a year till I started the pill. Makes me wonder, as I don't think I have periods unless I'm on the pill.

Well that would make sense. I had high testosterone (I don't know what it was, but as of last Monday it was 2.8 (Should be no higher than 1.7) and so as I wanted to go on the contraceptive pill anyway, I chose Dianette (cypo acetate) because the doctor told me it was anti-androgenic and would reduce my hair growth.

I took it for 28 days, then had a 7 day break. 3 days after stopping on the break, I had a withdrawal bleed which was lighter than a normal period, and lasted for about 4-5 days. The doctor told me that this is NOT a period. Cyp Acetate halts ovulation, and therefore you do not have period. In effect, it switches your ovaries off (possibly why I am having problems now, as I am having trouble switching them back on!!!). The bleed is caused due to a drop in hormones, from having a 7 day pill free time.

Hope this helps :)

ah it does help me understand, thank you :)
i didn't think it was a proper period! as its mine are very light and last 2-3 days :S
I think I'm going to have the same problem when I come off it, meaning no periods. Which also mean no babies! Well, thats what I got told at the hospital the other day. Im only 21 so I don't want a baby yet, but still it worries me

Good luck! :)
